Tirzepatide is a GLP-1 agonist, which mimics a hormone that has been shown to help reduce food intake and appetite. Tirzepatide also imitates a second hormone called GIP, which improves how the body breaks down sugar and fat. Treatments are more expensive (up to 2X semaglutide) but clinical trials have shown a 40-50% increase in weight loss over semaglutide with up to 40% less side effects.
